Head of the Branch Leadership of the Federation of Textile Workers Unions, Clothing and Leather Workers Unions of All Indonesia (PC FSPTSK SPSI) Bandung Regency, Uben Yunara, complained about the government's policy in implementing the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) which had been extended several times.
Currently, PPKM Level 4 Java Bali has been extended until August 16, 2021.
"The impact of implementing the PPKM is that the economic fate of the workers is getting worse. The workers do not have a clear income or income," said Uben.
He hopes that there will be government policies that can revive the economy of the workers, one of which will help support the continuity of companies or factories in Bandung Regency.
"We hope that the government will help entrepreneurs in their business continuity. If the companies are helped, the workers will be greatly helped because the business continuity of the entrepreneurs will be greatly helped," he said.
Currently, Uben Yunara revealed, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic which led to government policies in implementing PPKM, many workers were laid off from their workplaces.
"Worse still, many workers have been laid off (termination). When they become victims of layoffs, it is certain that the workers will lose their income," he said.
Uben Yunara also admitted that he was concerned when a number of factories were forced to temporarily close due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. But there are still many companies trying to survive in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"In essence, we hope that the government will help entrepreneurs in their business continuity. If the company is stable in running its business, it will be very profitable for the workers," he said.
Uben Yunara also greatly appreciated the entrepreneurs who were able to survive in the midst of the corona virus storm.
"I also really appreciate the entrepreneurs who have paid attention to their workers to carry out mass vaccinations in an effort to suppress the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.
In addition, he also hopes for employers to pay attention to workers who are laid off, in addition to those who are victims of layoffs.
"Because many workers have been laid off, we hope that employers will continue to provide wages. This includes providing severance pay to workers who have been laid off," he concluded.
