President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to appeal to the banking sector to provide credit facilities for the textile and garment industry. Because the ease of access to banking for this sector is considered important to increase the value of exports."To the OJK to urge banks to provide convenience for the textile and garment sector. Because this is a short term, what is needed to increase exports is the ease of working capital," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto after attending the OJK Virtual Innovation Day 2021 event, at the Palace Complex President.

According to Airlangga, the textile and garment industry sector is President Jokowi's concern. The pandemic condition in other countries such as Vietnam, which is currently implementing a regional quarantine policy, can be used to increase the value of garment exports in the country.

"Yesterday when the President went to Jogja, it was also reported that garment exports from Jogja increased," said Airlangga.

Airlangga said the medium-sized industrial sector needs to be the target of easy access to bank credit. Moreover, he said, currently banks also have sufficient funds from third parties. According to Airlangga, President Jokowi also highlighted the current credit development.

"For credit development in the small and medium business sector, it is good, it is also related to people's business loans and for large sectors it can be seen that they still enjoy high commodity prices. Of course we have to be careful because commodity prices are cyclical, so must be prepared for a more sustainable one," he explained.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that medium-sized industries, especially textiles, had a large market that needed attention. Therefore, he also appealed to banking and finance to give greater attention to this sector. So that it is expected to help increase textile production and also export value.

"Textiles have good prospects during this pandemic. So we hope that later we can give greater attention to the textile industry. It seems that starting from what government policies are being carried out, especially OJK, we will pay special attention to this," said Wimboh.
