The industrial sector in Cimahi City has begun to stir in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which has not yet ended. This condition has been seen since early 2021. One sector that has started to grow positively is garments and textiles. Production and export activities have now begun to squirm after having slumped throughout 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. "You could say that export orders starting April 2021 are starting to recover. Buyers who were previously held are starting to come back to us," said PT Sansan Saudaratex's System and Logistics Section, Woro Sinta on Friday (11/5/2021).

However, he said, the export movement of domestic local products is currently constrained by crossings where entrepreneurs find it difficult to get container boxes.
"We can't export yet because the problem is that container ships are still difficult to get. This is also a PR from the government and Customs for how to get these ships quickly," said Woro.

He admitted that the COVID-19 pandemic that had been endemic since last year had disrupted production and export activities. Buyers from abroad refrained from ordering products at that time.

To maintain its business, the textile and garment industry such as PT Sansan Saudaratex has also started producing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks and hazmat suits.

"Production has also declined but not too much. Yesterday when we were working on PPE and masks, we entered a critical priority. So children can still be maintained," said Woro.

Even now, the masks produced by the original Cimahi City have been certified by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and have been exported to various countries. In addition, other products such as children's clothes have also been sent to various countries.

This is certainly very proud because many local Indonesian products have been marketed abroad so that they can encourage economic recovery in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Our garments mostly work on other people's brands that pay for exports to America, Europe, Asia, Japan and China," concluded Woro.

Head of the Bureau of Public Relations, Cooperation and Information Services at the National Standardization Agency (BSN), Zul Amri said that his party strongly encourages business actors to apply the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Because according to him will increase competitiveness.

"Products that already have SNI should be worthy of being accepted abroad. Differences in standards should not be a problem because we have implemented international standards," he said.

Especially for masks that already have SNI standards, his party expressed his appreciation for companies that have succeeded in achieving SNI masks.
BSN itself has determined SNI EN 14683:2019+AC:2019 Medical masks - Requirements and test methods (EN 14683:2019+AC:2019, IDT, Eng) with 1 industry applying SNI for medical masks namely PT Maesindo Indonesia with its brand Jito, Solida , Med99, and Mi.
