Zainul Arifi, said that in 2021, there will be a total of around 27,623 residents in Jepara who work in foreign companies. Meanwhile, local companies or domestic residents are only able to absorb around 21,834 workers in 2021.
Arifin said companies from foreign investors or PMA that absorb the most labor are the leather and footwear sector. The number reaches 15,600 workers. The investment value that goes to local governments from foreign companies is also quite large, reaching more than IDR 420 million a year
Then another sector that also absorbs a lot of labor is the textile industry. The number of workers absorbed from the textile industry reached 5,457 workers, with an investment value of Rp. 84 billion.
Meanwhile, for companies from domestic investors (PMDN), the sector that absorbs the most labor is the wood industry. The absorbed workforce from that sector reached 5,423 people.
"The wood industry invested more than IDR 187 million last year," said Arifin.
With the presence of investors both from within and outside the country, the Regency Government (Pemkab) of Jepara also hopes that many local residents will be absorbed into the workforce. Thus, it can reduce unemployment and poverty rates in Jepara Regency.
