The textile and textile products (TPT) industry asked the government to be serious in curbing the phenomenon. Hu, who recently became the talk of Twitter citizens with the hashtag #SellerAsingBunuhUMKM. Secretary General of the Indonesian Fiber and Filament Yarn Producers Association (APSyFI) Redma Wirawasta said textile producers both in the upstream and downstream areas are not so worried if community demand is still stagnant due to the condition of Covid-19 and parts of it.

Meanwhile, the most worrying thing is imported and cheap finished goods. "If we are importing and cheap, we will run out of lots, that's why these online-online ones should be taken care of. This is because the main competitor online is IKM, which so far has absorbed 60 percent of local fabric products," he said.

Redma said that if the TPT IKM were attacked and made them deserted for buyers to stop production, it would certainly have an impact on the upstream industry. Meanwhile, if IKM can be saved and the absorption of fabric products continues to increase, it will also leverage the textile industry upstream.

According to Redma, the seriousness of handling cheap imported products from retail should also be done immediately considering that currently there is a shift in the portion of purchases by consumers who usually buy through conventional stores. "The portion of online purchases is becoming large because currently retails such as malls are still quiet," he said.

On the other hand, the industry is currently facing an increase in raw materials, such as PTA, due to rising world oil prices. In fact, upstream textile producers have recorded an increase of up to 15 percent since the beginning of this year. Redma is worried that lately the slow downstream sales will also be due to producers having raised prices for finished goods. This is because an increase in raw materials of 15 percent could encourage an increase in finished goods by 3-4 percent because in the cost structure of raw materials it takes up 55 percent of the portion. "So our utilization is still at the 80 percent level. Actually, orders were busy until early February for the preparation of Lebaran but we have to look at it again until this week because there should still be an increase for Lebaran," said Redma.
