Many of us may not know that woven fabrics from Nusa Tenggara have very diverse and beautiful patterns and designs. These woven fabrics may not be as famous as batik, but those who see them will surely fall in love, as experienced by the famous designer Asha Smara Darra. "Nusa Tenggara is a special place for me, because it was the beginning of my textile journey in Indonesia," said Asha Smara Darra in a virtual event Monday (16/5/2022). Because of her love, Asha also collaborated with The Apurva Kempinski Bali to hold a luxury fashion show that shows the beauty of fabrics from Nusa Tenggara.

The event, which was held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 in the lobby of the 5-star hotel, was a form of appreciation for the cultural heritage of Nusa Tenggara, as well as Indonesian art.

A total of 24 ready-to-wear clothing collections were displayed through this fashion show, with the hope that more and more people will be able to see the evolution of traditional antique fabrics.

In this demonstration, Asha presented clothes with simple cuts because she wanted to highlight the beautiful motifs on her woven fabrics.

"This Nusa Tenggara weaving is already very beautiful, so I present a simple cut with a simple blend with other materials, to highlight the fabric," he explained.

Asha also presents fabrics in lighter colors, with loose and comfortable cuts in resort style.

"I want to show that ikat weaving can also be used in Bali, can be mixed and matched with various resort styles, can be used on any occasion, and I want people to see that weaving is comfortable to wear," he continued.

This style is displayed so that Nusa Tenggara fabrics do not fall behind in fashion but still have their traditional characteristics.

“This is also not just a fashion show. Together with The Apurva Kempinski Bali's Unity in Diversity campaign, we are also trying to bring together the cultural and fashion sides, MSME workers, and the continuation side of these fabrics."

Incidentally, Hotel The Apurva Kempinski Bali, from the beginning had a foundation and goal so that the people of Indonesia and also the world would know more about Indonesia's cultural richness and also learn more about the islands in Indonesia.

"This is the reason that prompted the formation of the Unity in Diversity or 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' campaign in 2022," said Danti Yuliandari, Director of Marketing for The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

Apart from the fashion show, guests from The Apurva Kempinski Bali can also get to know more about the textile arts of Nusa Tenggara An exhibition entitled '100 Fabrics of Nusa Tenggara' also enlivened this hotel lobby, with a collection of fabrics that showed the characteristics of various regions in Nusa Tenggara.

These fabrics come from various regions such as Alor, Timor, Flores, and various other regions. Not only exhibiting her art, Asha Smara Darra also created a bandage worn exclusively by Lady in Red The Apurva Kempinski Bali. Lady in Red is the ambassador of Kempinski Hotels, which is in every Kempinski hotel in various parts of the world.
