The world is on the verge of a recession. The United States as the world's superpower alone recorded the highest inflation in the last 41 years, reaching 9.1%. This will also have an impact on Indonesia, the business community has also warned this. "If you are worried, the whole world will be worried," said Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Anne Patricia Sutanto, Thursday (14/7/22). Many of Indonesia's textile export destinations are directed to the United States. If the US goes into a recession, purchasing power will also decrease, this will have an impact on the demand for apparel to Indonesia.

However, Anne said that Indonesia would benefit from another situation, namely the overflow of requests from China to non-China due to the trade war with the US. Indonesia is one of the abundance of blessings.

"Even though the world is going down, we get a lot of transfers, so we still increase in supply. We have to add workers. Indonesia's TPT sector is number 12 in the world, not yet number 2 or 3. By shifting China to non-China, Indonesia gets a big (transfer)... , said Anne.

He emphasized that so far there has been no decline in demand in the textile industry.

The chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants Association (HIPPINDO) Budihardjo Iduansjah said the same thing. There has been no major impact of inflation and recession in the US. He emphasized how inflation in Indonesia could be controlled. The increase in the US dollar should also benefit the domestic business world.

"We see that inflation is not too high, it's okay, our inflation is still below 5%, so it's still under control. Precisely because the US dollar is high, maybe our hope is to strengthen local products, so suppliers buy local goods," said Budihardjo
