Trisakti School of Tourism held the "USI UNESCO Chair Summer School 2022" entitled "IMAGINE – ICTs to Promote Sustainable Heritage Tourism in Indonesia" on 16-23 August 2022. This Summer School was attended by 28 participants, from seven countries, namely Indonesia, Italy, Peru, Serbia, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States. The participants from Indonesia represented several provinces, namely Jakarta, North Sumatra and South Sulawesi. For information, the Summer School brings together participants with academic, industry and field experts where participants can get close to some elements of Indonesia's very rich heritage.

From there, it is hoped that participants will be able to reflect on how digital media can be implemented and regulated to promote sustainable tourism and a better understanding of heritage.

This year's Summer School's special focus is on the textile heritage of Batik, which was designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009.
The field visits covered four cities (Jakarta, Bogor, Solo and Yogyakarta), two World Heritage sites (Prambanan Temple Complex and Borobudur Temple Complex), two Keratons (Mangkunegaran and Yogyakarta), Bogor Botanical Gardens and the Zoological Museum, as well as museums, such as the Textile Museum. , National Museum, Danar Hadi Museum and Radya Pustaka Museum.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno welcomed the participants via video messages and gave his appreciation for the activities held by STP Trisakti.

Sandiaga also hopes that this Summer School activity can provide a comprehensive learning and practical experience to support tourism in the world, especially in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, Chairperson of STP Trisakti Fetty Asmaniati hoped that the participants would share best practices and inspire more diverse collaborations between participants to develop and promote sustainable tourism at UNESCO World Heritage Sites through the use of communication technology.

Participants were also welcomed by Moe Chiba, Section Head and Cultural Program Specialist of UNESCO Office Jakarta. They have also learned about the important initiative to engage local communities by Diana Setiawati from the UNESCO Indonesia Culture Unit.
