The Ministry of Industry will coordinate with the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Wild Affairs to overcome the current excess production of personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks in the country. Director of the Textile, Leather and Footwear Industry of the Ministry of Industry, Elis Masitoh, said that if the overseas market is open for PPE and mask products, this opportunity will be welcomed by the domestic industry, which in fact has a large enough capacity while demand is limited.

A number of well-known fashion brands such as H&M, M&S and C&A are supporting initiatives in Bangladesh that encourage the use of more recycled materials in clothing production. This initiative is targeted to significantly reduce global warming emissions resulting from the industry by 2030.

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is developing a melt spinning laboratory facility. The Head of the Industrial Services Policy and Standardization Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi, said that the facility could be utilized by the national textile and textile product (TPT) industry which is currently developing raw materials for yarn with special functions, including for medical purposes.
